The character in this example is from a personal, collaborative project titled Champions of the Earth: 206X.

Avery‘s character is representative of the cliche ”Mean High School Cheerleader” archetype that is seen throughout a lot of popular media.

As Champions of the Earth: 206X is set in the near future, I wanted to find a way to make Avery’s clothes unique and futuristic, without making them too sci-fi-esque. I decided to give her LEDs threaded throughout the fabric that she can use practically.

The character in this example was used

by Highlander Games as a marketing mascot for a Dundee University comic book event in 2022.

I took inspiration from the store’s logo for the character’s blue colour scheme. Additionally, her clothes were influenced by the popular game franchise Dungeons and Dragons, as the store was pushing to sell more merchandise at the time.

I had known from previous years that the event was regularly attended by fans of cartoons and anime, and thus I felt it would be more effective to make the design resemble other popular female animated characters.

In order to ensure quality and to be able to give my clients as much attention as possible, I only open three slots for commissions every month.
